1989 Lotus Elan SE Turbo “Press Car”

***DEPOSIT TAKEN***

What an opportunity to own a piece of motoring history in a useable, modern classic sports car that is still a very fast little vehicle even by todays standards. The M100 Elan’s cornering performance was undeniable (on release, the Elan was described by Autocar magazine as “the quickest point to point car available”). The Elan’s rigid chassis minimised roll through the corners and has led to its description as “the finest front wheel drive [car] bar none”.

Our thoughts
Our Elan, being a press car makes this car a very unique opportunity in its own right. The car was seen on Top Gear and in many of the best car magazines of the era and comes with a host of magazines with it featured inside. This is car No:10 off the production line and is authenticated by Lotus in the history. There is a Top Gear video review on Youtube as well. This car has slightly different 'pop up' lights to others

The car drives very well indeed and has benefitted from some Gas shocks fitting at some point to help with the twisties and has a stainless exhaust which gives off a nice sporty burble. It is very quick for a 34 year old car and it has certainly retained the majority of its horsepower as it has no trouble in getting up to the speed limit when on test drive. The overall condition of the car is very good, the rear light lenses are very good, however there are a few cosmetic age related areas that could be improved on the paint, but we want the keep the car as is and the new owner can decide what could be changed.

Within the last 2 years the car has had general work, which includes a cambelt & and a service, but we have performed a fresh service, checks and prepared it for sale and will put a new 12 month MOT on the car. The current mileage is showing 79,000.

We feel this car is probably suited to a specialist collector or someone looking for a more unique example to own and enjoy. It is simply unrepeatable and true piece of Lotus history.

What next?
This is a fun useable, surprisingly little fast car that won't break the bank. We welcome any enquiries and encourage any seriously interested parties to view this ‘one of a kind’ car and see just how well it drives.
