The Vauxhall Calibra was very much the descendent of the Manta, as both were the work of stylist Erhard Schnell. He shares credit for the Calibra with another GM design legend, Wayne Cherry. The car was an exercise in restraint, with unadorned coachwork, a long nose, elegant frameless side windows and swooping roofline that would later be echoed by the notably good-looking Audi TT (classicsworld 2023)
Our example is a face lifted later model and being close to the end of production has survived very well and clearly has been looked after by its enthusiastic owners. With its original bill of sale, low mileage and excellent all round condition both inside and out, makes this a great modern classic to take to shows or to drive and enjoy in the summer months. We have driven this car over 100 miles and it is a very comfortable and compliant car, giving a modern driving experience, but real character of the 90’s era. With Vauxhall’s answer to “leather” in the 90’s, sporty white dials and its 16v 2.0 petrol engine producing over 130bhp, makes it no slouch and still competent in modern times.
The Cam Belt/Water Pump was replaced in April 2023. It has been through our workshop and had many hours of preparation done to it that has enhanced the overall appearance and has also been treated underneath with waxoil to ensure many more years of enjoyment. We think this car is certainly in a different league to others on the market as documented below in the images.
